With just a few spots remaining in the class of 2013, recruiting news has slowed down somewhat. Still good news came through Saturday night when Katy, TX running back Jamel James became Notre Dame's 18th commitment for next season. James originally committed to Arkansas last year, but had a change of heart when Bobby Petrino was fired reopening his recruitment and eventually landing at Notre Dame.
James gives the Fighting Irish another running back to add to their stable for next season which will need reinforcements after Theo Riddick and possibly Cierre Wood depart. He's never visited Notre Dame, but says he plans to during the Michigan game.
James is a smaller back at 5'11", 218 lbs but runs a 4.45 40 giving him great speed. Rivals.com lists him as a three-star recruit and the 89th best player in the state of Texas. Scout.com, however, ranks James as a four-star player and the 29th best running back in the class.
He chose Notre Dame over offers from Arkansas, Florida State, Houston, LSU, Texas Tech, USC, and West Virginia.
