NCAA Basketball Schedule, TV Times And More: Notre Dame Have All The Momentum ... - SB Nation

Notre Dame have plenty of momentum going into a game against Seton Hall after defeating Syracuse on the weekend. Indiana can try and put a winning streak together, while Louisville and Butler both work on lower conference standings.

Jan 23, 2012 - It was a big weekend for the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. The Irish have all the momentum in the world as they became the first team this season to defeat the Syracuse Orange on Saturday, moving themselves up to 4-3 in Big East play. Their next game against similarly 4-3 Seton Hall on Wednesday at 8 PM looks far less daunting with the best team in the nation on their resume in the W column.

The Indiana Hoosiers were able to breathe a sigh of relief on Sunday as they ended their three game losing streak in Big 10 play with a 73-54 victory over reeling and miserable Penn State soon after the school had learned of the death of their legendary football coach Joe Paterno. The Hoosiers are still ranked in the top 25 despite their losses but have fallen down to 7th place in the conference with a mediocre 4-4 record.

The good news for them is that Indiana have a very good chance to gain ground on one of the teams above them this week. The Wisconsin Badgers are currently 5-3 and only two spots above Indiana, and the two of them will meet Thursday at 9 PM.

The Butler Bulldogs had a great weekend with two wins in the Horizon conference with Milwaukee falling down and leaving less room for a clear winner up at the top. Butler's two wins moved them to 6-3 in the Horizon and on Thursday at 8 PM will face the Milwaukee Panthers, fresh off their loss to Cleveland State. Another loss to Butler and they would move below the Bulldogs in the Horizon standings and push Butler ever closer to the top.

Louisville had a win in Big East play just like Notre Dame, but it was a bit less important as they merely took down 0-7 Pittsburgh. They will have a chance to try and claw their way up a bit further when they face Villanova on Wednesday at 7 PM. Nova are 3-5 on the season while Louisville are 3-4, so the Cardinals should have a shot.
