Lewis Jackson scored a game-high 20 points, leading four players in double figures, as the Purdue Boilermakers defeated the Minnesota Golden Gophers, 79-66, in Big Ten Conference action at Williams Arena.
Also coming up big for the Boilermakers (13-4, 3-1 Big Ten) was D.J. Byrd with 18 points on 5-of-6 shooting behind the three-point line off the bench, while Robbie Hummel and Terone Johnson recorded 13 and 10 points, respectively, as Purdue won for the fourth time in five tries.
The Golden Gophers (12-5, 0-4) were paced by Rodney Williams who recorded a double-double consisting of 19 points and a game-high 14 rebounds, while Joe Coleman delivered 14 points and Chip Armelin 12 off the bench as they dropped their fourth in a row.
Both teams shot better than 56 percent from the floor in the first half, but Purdue separated itself by knocking down a stunning 10-of-12 behind the three- point line, en route to a 47-32 advantage at the break.
In the second half the Boilermakers missed all three of their three-point tries, but with 52.2 percent accuracy from the floor overall the visitors were still able to cruise to the easy win.
Minnesota finished the meeting with a 37-31 rebounding advantage and converted 5-of-10 behind the three-point line but it still wasn't enough to stave off defeat.
