Both Indiana and Purdue won on Sunday to stay in second place in the Big Ten, but this week presents another opportunity for them to gain ground on first place Michigan State. Purdue hosts Wisconsin on Thursday, and the Boilermakers have dominated the Badgers in Mackey Arena for four decades. Wisconsin's only win in West Lafayette since 1972 came in 2005, when Gene Keady's final team went a meager 7-21. The Badgers come in at an uncharacteristic 1-3 in Big Ten play.
Indiana will also play on Thursday when the Hoosiers host last place Minnesota. The Golden Gophers have gotten off to a brutal start in conference play thanks to the loss of All-American Trevor Mbakwe. Minnesota will enter at 0-4 after a promising non-conference season.
Friday presents an opportunity for Butler and Valparaiso to help each other out in a tight Horizon League race. Butler hosts conference favorite Cleveland State, while Valpo hosts co-leader Youngstown State. The Bulldogs and Crusaders are each 3-2 in league play, while Cleveland State and Youngstown State share the league lead at 4-1 with Milwaukee.
