It started with a barrage of three-pointers and ended with Lewis Jackson sacrificing his body throughout the entire second half. Just three days after an embarrassing loss at Penn State the Purdue Boilermakers rebounded to earn a gritty 79-66 win at Minnesota.
Jackson, who has been severely limited in practice with back spasms, fought off the pain and carved up the Golden Gophers for 20 points and four assists. Jackson was unstoppable on his drives to the basket, repeatedly slicing through the Minnesota defense for seemingly effortless layup all while grimacing in pain throughout.
The Boilermakers were 10 of 12 from long range in the first half to build a 15 point halftime lead. D.J. Byrd had a career high 18 points and was 5 for 5 in the first half from long range. Terone Johnson had 10 off the bench for Purdue while Robbie Hummel had 13 in his first game back at Minnesota since tearing his ACL at that same Arena in 2010.
