Seven Indiana University athletic programs earned pefect scores in the latest release by the NCAA of the Academic Progress Rate (APR) report. The APR measures both eligibility and retention of student-athletes competing on the Division 1 level.
The Hoosier squads recognized included: Tom Crean's men's basketball squad, seemingly over the hump after the Kelvin Sampson debacle, menâs cross country, menâs golf, menâs swimming and diving, womenâs swimming and diving, womenâs tennis and womenâs water polo.
Menâs golf, womenâs tennis, menâs track and field and womenâs track and field (tied) all have the top multiyear mark among their peers in the Big Ten conference.
In a IU release announcing the results, athletic director Fred Glass remarked, âI want to congratulate our student-athletes, coaches and staff for embracing this high priority for our department. These are successes of which all of Hoosier Nation should be proud of."
The football program is making progress academically, but the constant change in coaches has affected the scorecard. Additionally, baseball received recognition for its four-year score.
