Indiana Pacers Attendance: Woeful Numbers Because Lack of Names, Not Talent - Bleacher Report

As a No. 3 seed, the Indiana Pacers are one of the favorites to win the Eastern Conference. However, as discussed on the recent podcast of the T.J. McAloon and the Sports Half Hour , because they do not have a true star on their team they will never get the respect that Miami, Chicago and Boston get. 

The Pacers do have a solid core group of players with Danny Granger, Roy Hibbert, George Hill, David West and Leandro Barbosaâ€"who they picked up at the NBA trade deadline.  

However, none of those players jump off of the page and make fans in Indianapolis come out to Bankers Life Fieldhouse. 

The Pacers finished another season either as the worst NBA franchise at attendance in the league, or no higher than 26th. This year, the team had a great home record of 23-10, but finished 29th in the league averaging only 14,168 fans per game, which equates to 78.1 percent capacity.

On the show, Jay Graves and I discuss the ways that the Pacers could fix their attendance issuesâ€"like making a run at potential free agent Eric Gordon.  

Gordon is a restricted free agent, so the Hornets can match any contract that a team like the Pacers make at him, but bringing Gordon into Indiana would bring an excitement that would bring fans into the Fieldhouse.  

The team needs a marque player to go with Granger, Hibbert and George. Bringing in Gordon would be that missing piece to a public relations dream that can help attendance figures.
