George Hill Agrees To 5 Year Deal To Stay With Indiana Pacers

Brian Spurlock-US PRESSWIRE

The Pacers have agreed to a 5 year deal with George HIll, according to a source.

George Hill had a pretty good season for the Indiana Pacers and he will be sticking with the team for the time being.  The point guard has agreed to a five year deal with the team.  The Pacers can now focus on their efforts on bringing back center Roy Hibbert.

George Hill took the starting role from Darren Collison and never looked back last season.  Hill was a big reason that the Pacers were able to scare the Miami Heat in the playoffs for a couple of games.  He should be able to lock down the point guard spot for years to come.

I expect that George Hill will keep making the leap and become a very good starting point guard.  Five year deals make me hesitate a bit, but the Pacers obviously felt they needed to lock him up long term.  This makes sure that they can focus on getting Hibbert to come back.  That seems like a long shot right now, but at least they have one spot taken care of.

A lot of news around the league is going to pop up in the coming days.  There are a lot of teams that need help, so free agents are agreeing to deals very quickly.  George Hill is one of the few to agree to a deal to stay with his previous team, which is good news.

The basketball offseason is just beginning and it is going to be a fun ride.
