George Hill had a pretty good season for the Indiana Pacers and he will be sticking with the team for the time being. Â The point guard has agreed to a five year deal with the team. Â The Pacers can now focus on their efforts on bringing back center Roy Hibbert.
George Hill took the starting role from Darren Collison and never looked back last season. Â Hill was a big reason that the Pacers were able to scare the Miami Heat in the playoffs for a couple of games. Â He should be able to lock down the point guard spot for years to come.
I expect that George Hill will keep making the leap and become a very good starting point guard. Â Five year deals make me hesitate a bit, but the Pacers obviously felt they needed to lock him up long term. Â This makes sure that they can focus on getting Hibbert to come back. Â That seems like a long shot right now, but at least they have one spot taken care of.
A lot of news around the league is going to pop up in the coming days. Â There are a lot of teams that need help, so free agents are agreeing to deals very quickly. Â George Hill is one of the few to agree to a deal to stay with his previous team, which is good news.
The basketball offseason is just beginning and it is going to be a fun ride.
