In a night short on trades, the Indiana Pacers remained at the 26th spot, surprisingly selecting Warsaw native Miles Plumlee with their pick. Plumlee spent four years at Duke, and the pick came higher than most mocks seemed to have him. The Pacers selected Plumlee, a near seven footer with a limited offensive game. Plumlee averaged 6.6 points in his senior season, but did manage to pull down seven boards a night in his 20 minutes.
With high upside prospects still on the board such as Perry Jones III and Marquis Teague, the pick is certainly a puzzling one, perhaps even a poor one, but this wouldn't be the first pick Larry Bird has made that was originally doubted, so whether Plumlee can offer the Pacers more than some much needed size from the bench remains to be seen. Certainly, athletic abilities to go alongside a solid rebounding game can instantly give Indiana some help.
Plumlee's offensive game will be the biggest question mark moving forward, whether it's limited given him being 24 at the tip of the 2012-13 season, or still has room to emerge. All eyes on the pick moving forward, especially if he can take on Tyler Hansbrough comparisons and still produce at the next level.
This is the only pick currently on the table for the Pacers, but be sure to keep an eye out for any potential moves the Pacers may look to make in the second round.
