WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Purdue quarterback Robert Marve has been granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA and will play for the Boilermakers in 2012.

“I am extremely blessed by the NCAA’s decision and proud to be at Purdue for another season,” Marve said. “I’m looking forward to next year and winning games for the Boilermakers.”

Due to injury, Marve missed all of the 2007 season, his true freshman year at Miami, and was limited to just four games with the Boilermakers in 2010 after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in the second quarter of Purdue’s 31-20 loss to Toledo on Sept. 25.

“I’m very pleased for Robert, his teammates and all of Boilermaker Nation,” head coach Danny Hope said. “In all of my years of coaching, I’ve never been around a player that has worked so hard at becoming an elite athlete and, because of injury, has seen so little reward for his efforts. This is a big boost to our program getting him back.”

Marve is coming off a 2011 season that saw him complete 61 of 109 passing attempts for 633 yards and four touchdowns. His efforts against Ohio State, including scoring the game-winning touchdown from one-yard out in overtime, helped the Boilermakers knock off the Buckeyes in consecutive visits to Ross-Ade Stadium for the first time in school history.
