Former Butler Coach Accepts Job at Jenkins County - WJBF-TV

In the span of three years, Ashley Harden put the Butler Bulldogs football program on the map in the state of Georgia. Harden led them to their first win in 2010 after a 3-year skid that had the Bulldogs losing 41-straight games. In 2011, he also led Butler to their first playoff game since 2003.

Now, Harden turns to a new role as he becomes the head football coach at Jenkins County High School. WJBF News Channel 6 Sports first broke the news Thursday, and Harden told us that he was offered the job back in November.

Coach Harden says one of the reasons he took the job were his ties to the city of Millen.

"My Dad is originally from Millen, Jenkins County," said Harden. "When I taught in Screven County, I lived there, so I knew the community a little bit. It's a great little small town. I think it embodies really what Friday night football is all about. I'm from a small town in Florida, about the size of Waynesboro, so I like when the whole town shuts down and goes to the ball game. It's just a great atmosphere for high school football."

Over the past two years at Butler, Coach Harden led the Bulldogs to a combined 15-6 record.
