Amir Carlisle Transfers To Notre Dame After One Season With USC Trojans - SB Nation

Have you ever spent a ton of time on something or someone, just to realize that is wasn't even worth the hassle? That seems to be the situation with running back Amir Carlisle and the USC Trojans. The highly-regarded freshman running back, who originally committed to USC over Notre Dame last year, has now transferred from Los Angeles to South Bend.

According to this report, Carlisle will sit out the 2012 season and become a member of the Fighting Irish in 2013. While talented, there were quite a few issues with Carlisle and his move to Notre Dame is probably for the best. And if a kid does not want to be part of a team that will begin the season in the top-five next season, well, Lane Kiffin and the coaching staff probably do not want him, anyway.

"It was a very tough decision for him to select USC over Notre Dame last year," Duane Carlisle, Amir's father, told the South Bend Tribune on Saturday. "It came down to the wire, and it was neck-and-neck the whole time. Very close decision. They're both great places with great traditions.

"He's excited. He's very excited about the opportunity to continue his career as a student-athlete at Notre Dame."

Best of luck to Amir as he continues his football career in Notre Dame.
