Thereâs a few more guys left to talk about for the Pacers and how they should perform this season. Â Iâll break it down in three different categories.
New Players Added
These three guys were just recently added to the roster, and each have a one year deal. Â Itâs probably going to be small filler minutes for these guys, and I canât imagine weâll see much of them.
Blake Ahern
Blake Ahern has only played 19 games total with an career average of 11 minutes a game. Â He could probably came in at the end of a blowout for some minutes to run the point position or step into some shooting guard role.
Sundiata Gaines
Another pick up for the guard position who just recently played with the Nets. Â Heâs averaged 4.5 points a game, so probably a filler role for Sundiata Gaines. Â He was a member of the Jazz in 2009-2010 and played some in the playoffs.
Sam Young
Sam Young has been a member of the Memphis Grizzlies a couple of times. Â He was drafted by the team in 2009 and played through 2011. Â Then he went to the Philadelphia 76ers for part of 2011-2012, and ended back up on the Grizzlies. Â He is listed as a small forward, so maybe he could come in at that position, and give some rest to Danny Granger or if Paul George fills that spot for a bit.
Draft Picks
Previewing what the two draft picks can do for this yearâs Pacers team.
Miles Plumlee
There was much disagreement about the pick up of Miles Plumlee as he didnât average that many minutes in the college game, so how can he play in the pro game? Â Well, I think heâll get a shot to prove he can play, and if he can go out and get some quality minutes even if itâs a short time, then he can show heâs worth the draft pick. Â But if he goes out only for a short time, then why did the Pacers pick him up other than to have a big body around there? Â It should be interesting to see what direction the Pacers will go with Miles Plumlee.Â
Orlando Johnson
People seem more excited about the idea of drafting Orlando Johnson as heâs a shooter. Â Heâll go out and take shots, and hopefully make more than he misses. Â That will be the biggest thing is his shot selection. He seemed to be the type of player that goes out and takes any shot. In the pro game, you have to be selective about what shot you take. Â Orlando Johnson figures that part out, and he should be a great addition for the Pacers.
Last Yearâs Roster Player
Jeff Pendergraph
Hereâs a guy that was added last season, but suffered an injury early on and never got a chance to show much. Â I think this season as long heâs healthy, heâll get some minutes in the forward spot. Â He looks to be a guy that can do some of the hustle plays, but I donât think he can add much to the stat line.
