Could the Indiana Pacers be a possible suitor for veteran free-agent point guard Steve Nash?
At first glance, one may wonder why the Pacers would even consider Nash.
The Pacers have two guards on the roster in George Hill and Darren Collison, with A.J. Price coming off the bench as a solid No. 3 option. However, Hill will be a restricted free agent and it is not known at this time how much money he will be seeking on the open market come July 1st.
According to a report in the New York Daily News, Hill rejected a $6 million dollar per year contract before the start of the season in hopes to make more money on the free-agency market.
Hill is a native of Indianapolis, so it appears that the Pacers would try their hardest not to lose him; however, weird things can happen between teams and players during free agency.
The Pacers should check with Nash and try to sell him on the idea of playing in Indianapolis in hopes of possibly taking the team to an entirely new level of basketball.
Nash may be looking to join a championship contender, and Indiana showed this season that they are moving in the right direction.
Nash would be a great addition and could enhance the play of Roy Hibbert (a restricted free agent), Danny Granger, David West and Paul George with his amazing court vision.
Collison learned from Chris Paul when they both were members of the New Orleans Hornets, and Steve Nash could provide the same kind of guidance in Indiana.
The Pacers should court Nash because he would be a major upgrade to a team whose fans are looking ahead towards a better future.
