Just about nothing went right for the Michigan baseball team Saturday in West Lafayette, Ind.

And, as a result, Purdue ended more than 100 years of frustration.

The Wolverines managed just five hits while Boilermaker starter Lance Breedlove fanned six in seven innings of one-hit baseball to propel Purdue to a 14-3 win, giving the Boilermakers a share of their first Big Ten baseball crown since 1909.

Michigan (20-31, 6-14 Big Ten) has now dropped four of its last five. The Wolverines remain 10th in the league standings with five games remaining.

Coley Crank

After putting up two runs in the second inning and one in the third, Purdue broke things open in the fourth with an RBI double from Eric Charles and an RBI single from Kevin Plawecki. Tyler Spillner also scored on a Wolverine throwing error, making it 6-0 Boilermakers.

No. 15-ranked Purdue would go on to add six more unanswered runs to push its lead to 12-0 before Michigan finally got on the board in eighth by way of Coley Crank's two-run homer -- his Big Ten-best 12th of the season.

Alex Lakatos took the loss on the mound for Michigan, falling to 0-6 on the year. Lakatos allowed three runs on three hits while walking five through 2 1/3 innings of work (boxscore).

Michigan and Purdue wrap up a three-game set in West Lafayette on Sunday. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.

Eastern Michigan 11, Buffalo 7: EMU bounced back from a 15-run loss Friday with a four-run road win Saturday thanks to a 6-for-6 performance by Brent Ohrman Ohrman finished a home run shy of the cycle Saturday, just one day after Buffalo's Jason Kanzler went 6-for-6 himself. EMU (23-25, 13-10) pounded out 17 hits total, and starter Steve Weber (7-3) allowed four runs on nine hits in 6 and 1/3 innings to improve to 7-3 on the season. Sam Ott and Tucker Rubino each had three hits for the Eagles, who will wrap up their three-game set at Buffalo on Sunday.
