On Tuesday afternoon, the College Football Hall of Fame officially announced the members of the 2012 class, which was headlined by former Notre Dame Fighting Irish tight end, Dave Casper and former Purdue Boilermaker Otis Armstrong. Casper and Armstrong will be joined in the 2012 class by the likes of Art Monk, Steve Bartkowski and coach Jimmy Johnson. In total, the class is composed of 17 players and coaches.
Casper started his college career as a member of the offensive line playing at tackle prior to being named the Fighting Irish's Offensive Most Valuable Player on their 1973 National Championship team. He was an honorable mention All-American in 1972 and an All-American in '73.
In total he recorded 21 receptions for four touchdowns and 335 yards.
He went on to be drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the second round of the 1974 draft and won two Super Bowl Championships as well as being named a five-time Pro-Bowler and five-time All-Pro selection.
He is famously known for his involvement in two of the most famous plays in Raiders history; the Ghost to the Post as well as the Holy Roller.
Armstrong finished his college career as Purdue's all-time leading rusher and was selected with the ninth overall pick in the 1973 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos. His 3,000 rushing yards still sits at third on the school's all-time list. He is the ninth Boilermaker to be enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame.
