Indianapolis Colts Offseason: Lombardi Feels Decision On Manning Not Up To Grigson - SB Nation

New Indianapolis Colts general manager Ryan Grigson has as lot of variables in play as he prepares to make some big offseason decisions. One major decision involves the handling of quarterback Peyton Manning and the mega-bonus the team will owe him if he is able to wear the horseshoe next season.

But according to NFL Network analyst Mike Lombardi, Grigson may not have much say in Manning's future with the club as owner Jim Irsay already knows how he wants to handle the situation. Not only does Lombardi feel the Colts won't trade Manning but he's convinced that Manning will play for the Colts or not play at all next season.

"(Grigson) will be a part of that rebuilding process as they draft a quarterback," Lombardi said. "But I don't see this (Manning's status) as Ryan Grigson's decision; I see this clearly as Jim Irsay's decision as his relationship with Peyton Manning and what Manning has done for that franchise."

If this is how things play out with regard to Manning, Irsay and Grigson will need to start working the PR spin to make sure Grigson at least appears heavily involved in the decision.
