Hawks looking for Al Horford's replacement? - Yahoo! Sports (blog)

US Presswire

Atlanta Hawks center Al Horford, an All-Star for the past two seasons, tore his left pectoral muscle in the first quarter Wednesday against the Indiana Pacers and now will be out for at least three months.

Zaza Pachulia took Horford's place at the start of Atlanta's 111-81 win over the Charlotte Bobcats Thursday. The team has one other center, Jason Collins, on the bench. Pachulia has averaged 6.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 0.4 blocks per game over his career. The 25-year-old Horford's career averages per game are 12.8 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that GM Rick Sund isn't sure if the Hawks will try to sign a free-agent center or not. "We'll sit down the next three of four days and talk it over to see if there's anything we want to do," Sund said, according to the paper. "Do we want to go with the status quo, or how do we want to do it."
