If you're an Indianapolis Colts fan there are no surprises for you anymore when it comes to the 2012 NFL draft. Just about everybody has the Colts making the same decision, to bring Stanford QB Andrew Luck to Indy as Peyton Manning's successor. Heck, it's even been reported that the Colts have already made their decision to bring Luck into the fray with their first overall pick, ruining just about any suspense that anyone could possibly have tried to juice out of the scenario. The SB Nation 2012 NFL Mock Draft doesn't buck any of the trends, keeping the Luck to Indy bandwagon firmly on the tracks.
1. Indianapolis Colts, Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford
Yawn. Can you recall a year where there was less intrigue about who would be drafted first overall? The real show in Indy is the Manning question. I think Peyton Manning is gone. Maybe he isn't, but the Colts need to be a smarter franchise than the one that leaned on their quarterback at the expense of the rest of their roster. Of course, Luck is the kind of quarterback that would allow a similar tact. Surely they've learned their lesson.
No surprises, no surprises at all. Like it says, all of the real intrigue this offseason is likely to come from Manning's decision to stay or go. If the Colts opt to get rid of him, it will be a lot more exciting an offseason for the Colts until Luck finally arrives.
