Roy Hibbert is weighing a maximum contract from the Portland Trail Blazers following a meeting early Sunday in Washington, D.C., according to Sports Illustrated.
A restricted free agent from the Indiana Pacers, Hibbert, 25, could be in line for a four-year, $58 million deal. A moratorium in free-agent signings is in place until July 11, and free agents can negotiate with suitors as of July 1.
Hibbert, a center, averaged 12.8 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 29.8 minutes last season and made his first All-Star Game appearance.
Sources also told SI.com that Blazers officials met with Omer Asik, a restricted free agent from the Chicago Bulls. Like Hibbert, Asik is a center.
The Blazers are looking for a big-man partner for All-Star LaMarcus Aldridge. They thought they had that man in Greg Oden, the 2007 Draft's No. 1 pick. However, knee injuries and surgeries stopped Oden's career cold at 82 games over five seasons.
Hibbert was the 17th pick in 2008.
