MIAMI â"â"
Progress has been made in Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh's recovery.
The question is how much.
Not much, according to coach Erik Spoelstra.
Spoelstra said Monday not to make a big deal out of Bosh returning to the court for a workout Sunday. It was his first on-court activity since straining an abdominal muscle May 13 against the Indiana Pacers. Bosh missed the final five games of the second-round series.
"He just did the next step and progression of his rehab," Spoelstra said. "There still is not a timetable. It was a very light workout on the court."
Spoelstra said the workout was more "rehab-oriented." The session, attended by team president Pat Riley, took place on the floor after the Heat completed practice.
"It really was more of a progression of his rehab than it was more of a basketball workout," Spoelstra said. "But I could see how it would be interpreted differently."
Bosh has already been ruled out against the Boston Celtics in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The Heat will think more of his return once he is able to conduct an actual basketball workout.
"I wouldn't over-read into his workout (Sunday)," Spoelstra said. "We'll continue to reevaluate every day. He'll continue to do his rehab. When he starts legitimate basketball work, I'll pay attention a bit more."
