MIAMI (2) VS. INDIANA (3)

Game 1: Sunday, 3:30 p.m. CHCH

Synopsis: Stars vs. no stars. Many think the Heat caught a break when Chicago went out but the Pacers will try to use that as some kind of motivational tool. That’s all well and good but talent still counts.

Key matchup: LeBron James vs. Danny Granger. If the Pacers have a “star” it’s Granger but don’t be surprised when James turns up the defensive intensity and makes him disappear.

How the Heat win: The best players dominate the series; there is no disputing that James and Dwyane Wade are the most individually talented players and if they control games, there’s no way the Heat can lose. However, if they get in each other’s way and don’t play together, anything can happen. Miami can ratchet up the defence, too.

How the Pacers win: By wearing them down. Indiana has superior depth and should be able to run people at the Heat in waves and that could take its toll over a long series; Roy Hibbert has to dominate whoever the Heat try to use to guard him and hope teammates hit shots if he passes out of inevitable double-teams.

Who will win: Miami in six.
