David West Paces the Indiana Pacers - Always Miller Time

Talk about some playoff intensity as tempers flared in this one.  Mike Dunleavy and Tyler Hansbrough land into each other after Leandro Barbosa fouls Dunleavy.  Those guys had issues up in Milwaukee a couple of weeks ago, and the crowd booed Dunleavy to show their appreciation for that.

Then Larry Sanders decided to stir things up by pointing fingers and talking trash.  He got ejected as Danny Granger and David West picked up technical fouls in the process.  There’s the scene of Coach Frank Vogel coming out to calm down David West that makes you think back to when Jeff  Van Gundy was coaching and he was grabbing onto the legs of one of his guys.

This is the type of intensity the Pacers need down the stretch, so it’s good to see.  Then again, they have to remember to keep it in check and last night showed that.  The Pacers can’t afford to lose guys to suspensions if they want to do something special in the playoffs.

George Hill has been pretty special for the Pacers at point guard, while Darren Collison has been out, and this might call for Hill to keep the job even when Collison comes back.  Hill last night found his shooting touch as he put up 22 points and 8 assists.  Personally, I think he’s a better fit for the bench guys, and don’t think Collison should lose his starting role due to injury.  But we’ll see what happens when that comes up.

David West had a good game as well putting together some great passes along with his 21 points.  His touchdown throw to Paul George for a fast break makes you think of the great quarterback coming in for the Indianapolis Colts next weekend.  Danny Granger had 29 points as he continues his amazing month of April.  He’s really leading the way in his play on the court.

This team has now won seven games in a row, and can keep it rolling along tomorrow night against the Sixers team they just beat on Tuesday night.  Next Monday night comes another game with the Detroit Pistons, which should be a win, and finally finishing up with a date with the Chicago Bulls.  That should be a fun game as the Bulls only have a 1.5 lead on the Miami Heat, so they might need to come out and play hard. I imagine the Pacers won’t be lying down for that team, and that might have a playoff like intensity to it as well.
