Former Hoosier Belcher to play in NFLPA All-Star game - Examiner.com

Former Indiana Wide Receiver Demarlo Belcher, dismissed from the team late in the 2011 season, will participate in the inaugural NFL Players Association All-Star game on January 21.

Belcher suffered through an injury plagued senior campaign and didn't see eye-to-eye with first-year Hoosiers coach Kevin Wilson. Coming off a strong junior year, Belcher contemplated turning pro but decided to come back for his senior season.  He finished with just 25 catches for 286 yards and a touchdown in the opener against Ball State.

Belcher left IU three catches shy of breaking the all-time Indiana record held by James Hardy. His career totals were 189 receptions for 2,217 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Belcher was projected as a possible mid-round choice prior to the season. He possesses good size and hands, but is not a speedster and needs to improve both his route-running and overall consistency.  His attitude will come into question, and he'll have to prove he's willing to help a team in whatever role necessary to find a spot on a NFL roster. Most likely, he's working to earn an invite to a camp as a non-drafted free agent.
