Philadelphia 76ers Off Season Recap

The biggest move the Sixers made this off season was making their way into the Dwight Howard trade, which brought to them Andrew Bynum.  If Bynum can play up to the potential that he has, this will bump up the Sixers and make them one of the top teams in the East.  There are a lot of role players around Bynum, so he can make it his team, and become the focus of the Sixers.  They have also picked up Jason Richardson, who could become a good shooting asset off the bench.  The Sixers have bulked up a bit as well with the resigning of Spencer Hawes and taking Lavoy Allen off the market.  Nick Young, a guard, will be a new member of the Sixers squad as well.

This will be an interesting team to see as they look to be able to contend with the big powers in the East thanks to this trade.  Andrew Bynum gives the Sixers a superstar, but who knows if he will stick around.  I think if he sees he can be the focal point of the team, that is incentive for Bynum to stay.  There’s a young group of players here, so Doug Collins will have to continue to coach them up.  I think he’ll be a great coach for Bynum as he seems to get the best out of guys.  This team should be back in the playoffs even in a better position than last year.

Indiana Pacers and Philadelphia 76ers Match Up

The biggest and best match up to watch here will be Andrew Bynum and Roy Hibbert battling it out in the post. It’s a great test for Hibbert to see where he stands against a guy that’s actually about his size.  Most times, Hibbert stands tall against the centers of the East, but Bynum is a good sized center and possibly the best in the East right now.

That’s going to be a challenge for Hibbert as he’s still feeling his way to what he can do.  But this test will put him on the spot if the Pacers feed him the ball and let him work out against Bynum.

There’s a bunch of wing players too that the Pacers will have to be leery of.  Guys who can get out and create for themselves.  That will be up to Danny Granger and Paul George to step up the defensive end.

You could end up seeing these two teams battling it out for a top spot in the East, and who knows somewhere in the playoffs.  I think the regular season match up goes back and forth with the teams splitting.  It will be a fun set of games to watch as you see these two teams try to contend with the top in the East.
