IU's Replogle recognized for good deeds - Examiner.com

Not only is Indiana senior defensive tackle Adam Replogle a legitimate NFL prospect. It turns out the 6-3, 292 pounder is also a solid citizen. He's been nominated for the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Good Works team for his community service efforts.

Replogle was announced as a nominee for the 2012 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team® . The various partners who sponsor the award recognize the community service contributions of college football players. Replogle boasts an impressive resume of community service accomplishments, which include:

-Organizing a team-wide visit to Riley’s Children’s Hospital, where players met the patients, distributed gifts, and tried to provide words of encouragement.
-Actively participated in Boys and Girls Club volunteer opportunities.

From the 117 nominees, a selection panel will name two 11-player Good Works Teams that will be announced in late September â€" one for the Football Bowl Subdivision (Div. I-A) and the other for the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision, Divisions II, III and NAIA.

Replogle is in good company. Past members of the team include Super Bowl champion quarterbacks, Peyton and Eli Manning, ESPN analyst Trent Dilfer and 2011 Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III.

IU opens its 2012 campaign on September 1 against visiting Indiana State.
