NBA Finals Ramblings - Always Miller Time

Well there’s no game for tonight, so why not sit and think about what to make of the first two games?  Honestly, with the series tied at 1-1, it’s hard to tell which direction this series will go. I predicted Thunder in 6 games, so I am sticking by that.

But I do know that the Thunder haven’t been coming out strong, and that needs to be addressed, and I am sure in the past two days it has.  Getting down by double figures in both games is a lot to overcome.  We saw in game 2 that the Thunder couldn’t overcome it.  They didn’t look to be near the Heat at all most of that game, and that’s got to be concerning.

Lebron James is playing out of this world, which is expected of him.  If the Heat win, he wins Finals MVP hands down.  He is getting help from Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh finally.  If all three of them are playing like they did in game two, it could be lights out for Oklahoma City.

Russell Westbrook has got to be smarter at times with his play.  He can make the plays that are needed, and needs to remember Kevin Durant is out there to take over when need be.

Speaking of Kevin Durant, he’s right up there level wise with James.  I’ll go the opposite direction and say, if the Thunder win, then Finals MVP goes to Kevin Durant.  Already a three time scoring champ, adding a Finals ring, and that MVP would only help his case that he’s the best player out there.

Role players are playing a part for the Heat in this one, specifically Shane Battier.  Look at those three pointers he’s making.  He hit three of them in game one, and some more in game two.  I think the Thunder will take him making those if they can stop Wade and Bosh.  But they didn’t do that in game two, so that needs to be corrected.

The next three games are at Miami, which I think we’ll see what kind of team Oklahoma City is.   They were able to take care of business in San Antonio, which was a good thing for them.  But now they have to go to Miami, where the Heat play so much better.  These three games will decide in my mind who wins the series.  Will it be a heat wave for the Thunder?  Or will Miami turn up the Heat on the Thunder?
