The Miami Heat trail the Indiana Pacers 2-1 in their Eastern Conference playoff series and with Heat guard Dwyane Wade being scrutinized for his play and reported injuries that saw him score just five points in Game 3.
After Miami decided to cancel practice on Friday, Wade took advantage of the extra time to go down to Bloomington and check in with his college coach Tom Crean. The Indiana University coach mentored Wade while coaching him at Marquette.
According to Vigilante Sports, Wade's surprise visit to IU's campus found him enjoying his time with Crean in Assembly Hall and around campus.
Other than treatment, the Heat took today off which allowed him to reach out to a man that is like a father-figure. Wade, along with IU head coach Tom Crean, road around campus on a golf cart and were also around team facilities.
It shouldn't come as any surprise to Hoosier fans that Wade was down visiting his old coach. He has been photographed working out in IU shorts, and he has also recorded videos for coach. Whenever Crean's schedule allows, he makes it a point to go up to Indy and watch his former players.
Wade felt the wrath of the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Game 3, so this may turn out to be a savvy PR move to at least get IU fans to take it easy on him.
