Indiana Pacers Player Awards - Always Miller Time

I wanted to hand out some hardware to the guys who played tough and really made this Indiana Pacers turnaround happen. This season was a success thanks to the showing of a 3rd seed in the Eastern Conference and getting Pacers support back by the fans.

MVP of the Indiana Pacers
This is going to Danny Granger. With his fantastic month of April, he really found his game and helped the Pacers get going in that final stretch. It took him a little longer to find his shot, but he was usually up there scoring and leading the team on the floor. He also had some good defensive plays and looked to pass more as he got comfortable with the guys around him.

Defensive Player of the Indiana Pacers
Roy Hibbert is a guy that looked to be around the ball every time it entered the post. He was a shot blocker and provided intimidation at times. He averaged 2 blocks a game and ended up with 128 blocks over the season.

Improved Player of the Indiana Pacers
Roy Hibbert again wins this award because he went from a guy who was sitting on a couch trying to get his head right to an All-Star this season. Talk about a turn of events, and the confidence boost he’s received. It feels like he feels right at home here in Indiana, and the Pacers should be getting a check ready for him to keep him here over the next years.

Pickup of the Indiana Pacers
Such a toss up between David West and George Hill. Even bringing in Leandro Barbosa improved this team. But I am going to go with West as he brought a leadership quality to this team. Just listening to him on press conferences, you get this sense that he’s a leader. He looks to be a leader on the floor for these guys. George Hill really upped his game once he got the starting job of point guard this last couple of weeks and it’s great to have an Indiana guy in a Pacers uniform.

Win of the Year
Indiana Pacers 105 Miami Heat 90 This comes after three losses previously with two of those just being out right routs. This win came after a tough loss in overtime to the Heat just a couple of weeks earlier, and the Pacers came out on their home floor and won against the Heat. I’d also throw out honorable mention to the Pacers win at Chicago early in the season. This is the game that Derrick Rose thought the Pacers “celebrated” too much.
