Indiana Pacers coach Frank Vogel has been named Eastern Conference coach of the month for games played in April, the NBA announced today.
"I have no words, it's very, very humbling," Vogel said after practice today. "It's a credit to the guys. They've been extremely dialed in. And quite frankly, a credit to (president) Larry Bird for bringing (Leandro) Barbosa in. That changed our team and helped us go on a run toward the end of the season."
Vogel led the Pacers to a 12-3 record during the month. The 12 victories were the most wins in a month for the Pacers since November 2003.
The Pacers play game 1 of the playoffs Saturday against the Orlando Magic.
The Pacers may have to open the series without Barbosa. He sat out the season finale against Chicago on Wednesday and he's been limited in practice the past two days because of a left ankle injury.
George Hill or Dahntay Jones will likely get Barbosa's minutes if he's unable to play.
