Greencastle, Ind. - The ninth-ranked Tigers used a 24-4 run in the first half to take a 20-point lead and they were never threatened on the way to a 75-50 win over visiting Alma. DePauw improved to 9-1 with its eighth straight win, while the Scots dropped to 3-8.
With the game tied at 2-2, DePauw scored the next seven on an Ellie Pearson jumper, a three by Ali Ross and Katie Aldrich's (pictured) two free throws.
Alma stopped the run on Bailey Gooding's bucket, but the Tigers scored the next eight capped by Lauren Abendroth's trey which made it 17-4 with 9:58 left in the half.
Following a Scots bucket, DePauw rattled off nine straight to push the margin to 26-6. DePauw went to the intermission with a 43-21 lead after shooting 50 percent for the half and holding Alma to just 32 percent.
The Tigers put the game out of reach early in the second half after opening with a 9-2 run to expand the lead to 52-22.
Ross led DePauw with 14 points, while Aldrich followed with 13 and Pearson 10. Aldrich's final two points came with 5:10 left and pushed her career total to 1,001, making her the 13th player to top 1,000 points in her career.
Alex Gasaway led the Tigers with nine rebounds as DePauw held a 40-22 edge on the boards. Pearson, Kate Walker and Emma Ondik each dished out four assists.
Brittney Deerfield paced Alma with 10 points with Danielle Hicks grabbing four rebounds.
DePauw shot 46.3 percent for the game and knocked down 10-of-21 three-pointers, while the Scots hit 36.7 percent from the floor.
The Tigers return to action on Friday, January 6, when they travel to Allegheny for a North Coast Athletic Conference contest.
