Hoosiers Put Up Top Marks, Blast the Boilers - Indiana Athletics

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana track and field got a big confidence boost on Saturday, blowing out the rival Purdue Boilermakers in a dual meet. The IU women won 97-39, and the IU men won 88-46. The Hoosiers took first, second and third in seven different events on the day. IU got big performances from Andy Bayer, Olu Olamigoke, Kind Butler, Andrew Poore, Kelsey Duerksen, Breanne Ehrman, Emma Kimoto and Monique Riddick among others on the day.

Bayer and Poore went 1-2 in the mile, clocking the top two times in Division I this season. Bayer finished in 4:03.27 and Poore was right behind in 4:03.96. Poore shed 1.7 seconds off of his career best. Robbie Nierman took third, shedding 2.21 seconds off his career best to complete IU's 1-2-3 sweep.

Olamigoke won the triple jump with the second-best mark in Division I this season. His hop, skip and jump of 15.62m () is the best in the Big Ten this season and the eight best ever at IU.

Butler won the 60m and the 200m on the day, and his winning time in the 200 of 21.35 is the Big Ten's best this year and ranks ninth in Division I on the season. He clocked a time of 6.76 to lead IU's 1-2-3 finish in the event. He was joined by Tyler Sult and Nick Turner in the 60. Sult also took second in the 200.

Duerksen and Ehrman went 1-2 in the 800m and the mile. Their times of 2:12.21 and 2:12.42 in the 800 are second and third in the Big Ten this year and sixth and seventh in Div. I. In the mile, their times of 4:44.44 and 4:44.67 rank third and fourth in the Big Ten, fourth and fifth in Division I on the season and sixth and seventh in IU history. IU completed 1-2-3 sweeps of both events, with Ashley Seymour third in the 800 and Caitlin Engel third in the mile.

Kimoto won the high jump, clearing 1.75m (). Her mark is second in the Big Ten this year and 13th in Division I. Mia Mackinnon took second, clearing 1.72m (), which is good for fourth on the Big Ten list.

Riddick knocked off some good competition from Purdue in the shot put, launching a winning throw of 15.64m (). She also took second in the weight throw, recording a career best heave of 18.32m ().

Chris Vaughn won the 400 with a time of 48.39, which ranks second in the Big Ten this year, and Ryan Hindes led IU's 1-2-3 sweep of the men's 600 in 1:20.81. De'Sean Turner who was second in the 600, won the 800 in 1:52.17, a time that ranks eighth nationally and second in the Big Ten.

Adrien Dannemiller won the men's 3,000 in 8:23.24, good for 13th in Division I. Daniel Galos stayed unbeaten in the weight throw, recording a best of 17.80m ().

Aireonna Bailey won the 60m (7.75), leading an IU 1-2-3 sweep, and the 200m (24.84). Sophie Gutermuth won the pole vault with a career best clearance of 3.85m (), putting the freshman into a tie for seventh in the Big Ten.

IU also got a 1-2-3 sweep in the women's 60m Hurdles and 600m with Courtney Woodard winning the hurdles in 8.79 and Ruth Christopher taking the 600 in 1:32.72. IU won the women's 3,000m as well (Chelsea Blanchard in 9:46.03).

The Hoosiers closed out the meet by winning both 4x400m relays and both 4x800m relays.
