Fighting Irish-Bearcats Preview - USA TODAY

Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - Dion Dixon led the way with 18 points, as the Cincinnati Bearcats continued their strong play with a 71-55 victory over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in Big East action at Fifth Third Arena.

Dixon was just 5-of-13 from the floor, but was a perfect 7-of-7 from the free- throw line for Cincinnati (12-3, 2-0 BE) which won its seventh straight game. Dixon was joined in double figures by Jaquon Parker and Jeremiah Davis, who finished with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Jerian Grant led the way for Notre Dame (9-6, 1-1) with 17 points. Jack Cooley had a strong outing as well, recording a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Cincinnati shot just 41.9 percent from the floor in the first half, but was able to take advantage of Notre Dame's poor 32.1 percent effort to go into the intermission with a 31-21 lead. The Bearcats upped their shooting to 46.2 percent over the final 20 minutes and scored the first six points after the break to further distance themselves from the Irish.

Cincinnati hit eight three-pointers in the win and outrebounded the Irish 29-24.
