Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Andrew Smith registered a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 13 rebounds as the Butler Bulldogs posted a 63-57 win over the Loyola-Chicago Ramblers in Horizon League action at Gentile Arena.
Also scoring in double figures for the Bulldogs (12-9, 6-3 HL) were Ronald Nored and Khyle Marshall with 16 and 14 points, respectively. Nored also delivered nine assists, six boards and three steals for Butler as the team won for the third time in as many games.
The Ramblers (5-14, 0-9) were paced by Walt Gibler and Joe Crisman with 14 points apiece as the squad suffered a seventh straight setback.
Loyola led by a basket at the 11:26 mark of the first half, but the Bulldogs turned it around and took an eight-point advantage of their own seven minutes later, but still the visitors had to settle for a 25-23 lead at the break. Butler shot just 2-of-12 behind the three-point line and 3-of-6 at the free- throw line through the first 20 minutes.
In the second half the Bulldogs continued to have their issues beyond the arc (2-of-9), but the squad picked up the pace at the charity stripe (12-of-16) in order to secure the six-point win.
The Ramblers finished the afternoon shooting only 36.5 percent from the field.
